HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER.

Hydro-electric power is a form of power produced by water held behind a dam channels of water move through holes made in the dam if the force of the water is strong enough it will push the turbine with tremendous force moving it and producing power.

Hydro-electrics
Sustainable and echo friendly because it doesn’t pollute the planet and requires only water.
Isn’t the strongest power source.
Needs to be built by a water source and the water needs to be held behind a dam to produce force for the power.

Hydro-electric power powers 24% of the worlds homes and work places and gives power to over 1 billion people. The United States of America is the leading user of hydro electrics and china is the second.

The largest Hydro electric power plant is in Brazil Itaipu dam built from 1975 to 1991 in a joint development on the Parana river It has a total production capacity of 14,000 mw. But in 2000 it produced 93,428 GWh of electricity a world record for hydroelectricity generation.

So in 2000 it produced 20% of Brazils power and 94% of Paraquay. The Spillway is located on the right bank, and it has 14 segmented sluice-gates with a total potential discharge rate of 62,200 cubic meters per second (twice that of the highest flood-level on record). The Itaipu dam is 7,919 meters long (counting the Hernandarias dike) with a maximum height of 196 meters, equivalent to a 65-story building. It consumed 12.3 million cubic meters of concrete, while the iron and steel employed would permit the construction of 380 Eiffel Towers: dimensions that transformed the power plant into a reference with respect to concrete studies and dam safety.hybiggest.jpeg
